Dispatch is thrilled to host a reading by Kenneth Goldsmith of The Weather.  In an exhaustive prose-piece, Goldsmith transcribes a year’s worth of one-minute radio weather reports. Divided into four chapters, winter, spring, summer and fall, The Weather is an example of the profoundly meditative qualities hidden in the most mundane details of our everyday.  In the embrace of the tedious and ready-made content of the weather, Goldsmith makes a statement about mutability and possibility for a release from the modernist insistence on logic and originality.

Kenneth Goldsmith is an American writer and is the founding editor of UbuWeb. He teaches Poetics and Poetic Practice at the University of Pennsylvania and is Senior Editor of PENNsound. He hosts a weekly radio show at WFMU and has published ten books of poetry notably Fidget (2000), Soliloquy (2001) and Day (2003) and Goldsmith's American trilogy, The Weather (2005), Traffic, (2007) and Sports, (2008).
